Pfizer Censoring Face Book Comments Regarding Heartland Institute

with 12 comments

Update May 15: Pfizer censors my comments again!

Pfizer Censors Heartland Institute Comments

Now you see it…..

Now you don't

Now you don’t!

Pfizer funds Heartland Institute – an un-American hate group who thinks people like you and me who accept human-caused climate change are just like The Unabomber, Charles Manson, Fidel Castro, and Osama bin Laden. Pfizer also removes Face Book comments asking them to suspend their support of this un-American hate group. Of course, they shamelessly hide behind the “off-topic” argument for comment removal while not offering a Heartland topic where we can be “on topic”. Shame on you for supporting Heartland Institute and shame on you for being anti-free speech!

  1. Well, looks like Pfizer doesn’t have the guts to stand up and be held accountable for its support of hatred and misinformation.

  2. Would it be off-topic to note that Heartland has for 2 decades taken money from tobacco companies? And has supported Joe Camel to help get kids addicted?

Mandia: Where the money comes from and where a company stands is never off-topic.

  3. While I agree, I wouldn’t use the term ” anti-free speech”. What Pfizer is doing is no more anti-free speech than when you or any other blogger moderates comments.

Your comments on facebook might have been removed, but you are still free to write them here on your own blog.

Mandia: Dan, a large public company has a much greater responsibility to allow the public to ask questions than a little ‘ole blogger such as myself. Even so, I only moderate a comment if it is very inflammatory

  4. All these big companies’ ventures into social media are little more than PR puff. They don’t what to talk about anything serious. I mean, what real person bothers to write tweets like the ones they left in place!?

  5. I will go off topic for this reply. Global cooling in the 1970’s, then global warming, then climate change, then MAN MADE climate change. How about we call it weather. Listen to John Coleman(from the weather channel) from KUSI news in San Diego. He makes an excellent argument. We are not that powerful to change Mother nature. The most viewed website for this is http://www.wattsupwiththat.com, the so called science in NOT SETTLED!!! Who said it was????? Al Gore???? who said never have real estate near the oceans, then he buys a mansion on the water on the west coast. More and more scientists are saying this man made GW is not 100% true and.Climategate???? We have many more important issues in this once great country. These alarmists said that we are one of the most richest nations and we should take the lead…..sounds more like spreading the wealth again.Did the alarmists look at our debt problem lately? Dont call skeptics losers…..have an open mind, NOTHING is 100%. Of course politics and GW will always be together. Right now we need to save this country from going down, I believe that we should teach our children how to think, NOT what to think. Let people make up their own minds on issues. I feel very sorry for our children who get this man made GW shoved down their throats.

I know I will be called all sorts of names, by the alarmists, and believers because they refuse to hear anyone who disagrees.

    • Laura, “We are not that powerful to change Mother nature.”

No, I won’t call you names. You do realise that we poor little ‘not that powerful’ people annually shift more soil and rock than all of ‘Mother Nature’s oceans, rivers, avalanches, landslides, glaciers, floods, storms and winds put together.

We can double up on Mother Nature’s effort with the heavy lifting. I don’t see why we “are not that powerful” to overwhelm her efforts when it comes to invisible, light as air stuff like CO2. This of course is not a scientific point, but you were only advancing a non-scientific argument in the first place.

(Note – I don’t advance any view on “this country”. I’m not American.)

    • Listen to your country’s great scientists, Laura. I suggest starting at the website of NASA, whose scientists know what they’re talking about: http://climate.nasa.gov/keyIndicators/ There you will find scientific facts; not the half baked opinions of contrarian weather forecasters and garbled denial memes of bloggers who don’t want global warming to be true and therefore make stuff up to confuse people who don’t understand the science of climate.

And note that nobody has called you any names, Laura. It just makes us sad that you’ve lost your real skepticism.

    • Laura, can I recommend you go on a little trip and find Al Gore’s supposed “beachfront” property?

If you would, you just might develop some sense of skepticism when it comes to the people you listen to.

One hint: it’s NOT at the beach…

      • Which…errr…proves my point?

        From the article:
        ***
“Ocean view” means you can see a patch of blue without standing on the chair.

“Oceanfront” means there are actual waves lapping at your back door.

Some people wonder why a man as wealthy as Gore didn’t spring for an oceanfront house.

Well, the fact is that Al Gore is just plain smarter than we common folk. He knows that as the oceans rise, his new house will eventually become oceanfront.

  6. Pfizer has every right to remove unsolicited comments they don’t agree with from their Facebook wall, just as you have a right to throw away junk mail from your mailbox or erase graffiti from the front of your home.
